Hane içine gizlenen kadın yoksulluğu: Muğla-Mardin örneği

Öz:

Türkiye'de kadın yoksulluğu ile ilgili çalışmalar gelire ve hanehalkı reisliğine odaklanmakta ve evli kadınların hane içine gizlenen yoksulluğunu ihmal etmektedir. Literatürdeki bu boşluğu doldurmak üzere Mardin ve Muğla'da 408 evli çift ile görüşülmüş ve kadınların hane içinde yaşamış oldukları yoksulluk ve yoksunluk hane temelli değil, birey temelli olarak ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca erkek ve kadınlar için iki farklı pazarlık gücü endeksi oluşturulmuştur. Bulgular kadınların, özellikle Mardin'de çok daha fazla olmak üzere, fiziksel şiddete maruz kaldığını, işgücüne katılım, miras hakkı, gayrimenkul sahipliği ve eğitim gibi kaynaklara erişim ve hane içi kararlara katılım açısından da yoksunluklar yaşadığını göstermektedir.

Women's poverty "hidden" within the households: The cases of Muğla-Mardin

Öz:

Studies concerning women's poverty in Turkey focuses on income and head of households and ignores poverty of married women hidden within the households. To fill this gap, 408 married couples in Mardin and Muğla were interviewed and women's poverty and deprivation within the household is investigated in terms of an approach of individual-based rather than a household-based one. Besides two bargaining power indices were constructed. The findings indicate that women have exposed to physical violence and experience deprivation in terms of access to resources such as participation to labor force, inheritance rights, property ownership and education and participation to household decision making process. These are especially more pronounced in Mardin.
