This study aims to problematise the cases in which Westerners become migrants. The conventional modes of framing of international migration, to a large extent, are related with the policies of migration receiving Western countries and thus focus on the migration route from global South/East to global North/West. These modes of migration, therefore, are embeded in the interests based upon national sovereignity, the necessities of labour regimes needed by capitalism and dominant discourses and daily narratives of nationalism. These conventional frameworks do not work when it comes to the migration of westerners, and this shows how powerful the ideological effect of a certain methodological ethnicity in the studies of migration. Migration and post-migration practices of the members of economically and politically powerful nation states, reveals the necessity of distancing from national frameworks and locating migration in the reality of global inequalities and power asymmetries. Migration of the Whites requires the incorporation of racialisation processes and the privilege to the axes of inequalities that intersect with migration. The inclusion of 'race' which is rendered invisible in the white racial project to migration studies through the problematisation of whiteness has important implications for understanding of global power relations. This paper, by rethinking migration through Whiteness as a capital and resource, adresses the question of how white migrations contribute to migration research both conceptually and methodologically. This work, thus, by studying Western migration to non-West geographies and modes of presence of these migrants through various case studies, aims to discuss how and in what forms colonial continuties, white privilege and racial formations circulate in this specific moment of history.
