1. Does Kinesiophobia Effect One Day Physical Activity Behaviour and Functionality of Young People with Ankylosing Spondylitis?
Yıl: 2020 Cilt: 10 Sayı: 1 Sayfa Aralığı: 27 - 32
Veri Tabanı: Fen

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia, physical activity behaviour and functionality inpatients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS).Methods: This study included 57 participants (mean age, 30.8 ± 5.19 years) in 2 groups of AS and healthy controls. One day physical activitybehaviour was evaluated with tri-axial accelerometer. Tri-axial accelerometer was recorded physical activity domains and intensities for 24hours. Participants completed clinical questionnaires assessing pain, kinesophobia, disease activity, and functionality. Kinesiophobia and painwere quantified by the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia and Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire. Function and disease activity were rated byusing the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index, and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score. Results: There was no correlation between kinesiophobia and one day physical activity behaviour in AS patients group. There was a negativecorrelation between high physical activity level and disease activity(p<0.05, r:-.519) and there was a negative correlation between high andmoderate physical activity levels, and functionality (p <0.05, r:-.555 r:-395, respectively). Conclusion: According to the results of this study showed that; there was a relationship between disease activity, functionality, and one dayphysical activity behaviour. On the other hand, there was not any relation between pain intensity, kinesophobia and data obtained fromaccelerometer. Further studies with larger sample size and longer time periods should be carried out to reveal physical activity behaviours andits related factors in AS patients who will survive with this disease for years.

3. Effect of Illness Perception on the Quality of Life in Ankylosing Spondylitis
Yıl: 2018 Cilt: 18 Sayı: 1 Sayfa Aralığı: 94 - 102
Veri Tabanı: Fen

Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the illness perception in patients with ankylosingspondilitis (AS), to evaluate disease activity, functional ability, emotional status and to investigate theirassociation with quality of life (QoL).Materials and Methods: Sixty‐seven patients with AS were included in this study. The Bath AnkylosingSpondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI)were used for the assessment of disease activity and of physical functions, respectively. The AnkylosingSpondylitis Quality of Life (ASQoL) questionnaire was used for disease‐related quality of life and TheBrief Illness Perception Questionnaire (B‐IPQ) was used for the assessment of illness perception in ASpatients. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) was used for the assessment of psychological status. Results: Based on our results, significant association was found between QoL and illness perceptions. However, QoL was most associated with functional status and disease activity. Conclusion: Assessment of illness perception in routine clinical practice could contribute to a betterunderstanding of problems in patients’ behavior that may disturb adherence to treatment.Psychotherapeutic approaches in addition to conventional therapy might attempt to improve patient’sQoL in AS.

4. A Possible Correlation Among Different Disease Activity Parameters and Functional Status in Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis
Yıl: 2013 Cilt: 28 Sayı: 2 Sayfa Aralığı: 117 - 122
Veri Tabanı: Fen

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın birincil amacı, ankilozan spondilitli (AS) hastalarda Bath Ankilozan Spondilit Hastalık Aktivite İndeksi (BASDAI), Bath Ankilozan Spondilit Fonksiyonel İndeksi (BASFI) ve C-reaktif protein (CRP) ve eritrosit sedimentasyon hızını (ESH) içeren iki Ankilozan Spondilit Hastalık Aktivite Skoru (ASDAS) arasındaki muhtemel ilişkiyi araştırmaktır. Hastalık aktivite indekslerinden ASDAS-CRP skorları her iki cinsiyettede benzerdi.Sonuç: Çalışma bulgularımız, iki ASDAS skorunun hastalık aktivitesi ve fonksiyonel durum ile ilişkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Ankilozan spondilitli hastalarda ASDAS-CRP indeksinin her iki cinsiyeti içeren ancak cinsiyet farklılıklarına ilişkin analiz yapılmayacak ileriki çalışmalarda, hastalık aktivite parametresi olarak kullanılmasının daha uygun olacağı kanısındayız.
