The relationship between readiness and reading and writing performances

Öz:
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye’de ilköğretim okullarının birinci sınıfında okuyan bir grup çocuğun hazırbulunuşlukları ile okuma ve yazma başarımları arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Okulun ilk haftasında çocukların okul olgunluğu, harf-ses ilişkisi ve ses farkındalığı (phonemic awareness) bakımından durumları bireysel olarak belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra, uygulanan ilkokuma-yazma öğretimi süreci içinde, çocukların okuma ve yazma başarımlarını belirlemek için üç farklı zamanda ölçüm yapılmıştır. Hazırbulunuşluk ile okuma ve yazma başarımları arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığını belirlemek amacıyla çoklu doğrusal regresyon istatistiği yapılmıştır. Bulgular, hazırbulunuşluğun, özellikle okul olgunluğunun okuma ve yazma başarımlarında belirleyici bir değişken olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.
