Isolated hypoglossus nerve palsy: Two case reports
Öz: İzole hipoglossus sinir lezyonu nadir bir klinik tablodur ve beyin sapında yer alan çekirdeğinde ya da sinir boyunca herhangi bir yerde hasarlanma sonucu meydana gelebilir. Olguların çoğunda, izole hipoglossus paralizileri intra ya da ekstrakranial yer kaplayan kitleler, kafa ve boyun travması, karotis arter diseksiyonu, vasküler anormallikler, idiopatik, enfeksiyon, otoimmun hastalık ya da nöropatiyi işaret edebilir. Biz bu makalede izole hipoglossus sinir lezyonu olan 2 olguyu sunmak ve diğer olası nedenleri tartışmak istedik.

Öz: Isolated hypoglossal nerve palsy is an uncommon condition and it may be due to damage to the hypoglossal nucleus in the brain stem or to damage to the nerve along its course. Isolated hypoglossal nerve palsies may indicate the presence of an intracranial or extracranial space–occupying lesion, head and neck injury, carotid artery dissection, vascular abnormality, idiopathic, infection, autoimmune disease, or neuropathy in most cases. In this article, we present two cases of isolated hypoglossal nerve palsy and discuss other possible causes.
