Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the cultural differences that the midwifery and nursing students experienced during the nursing and the way these differences affect the care in relation to some variables. Methods: The study, which is descriptive, conducted at Health College, Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 2005 and 2006 spring academic term. The research was participated by 173 voluntary midwifery and nursing students (77%). The data were collected through a question form based on the permission obtained from the institution in charge and on the verbal approval from the students. The data were tested through descriptive statistics and Chi Square tests using SPSS 10.0. Results: According to the findings, more than half of the students (69.4%) experienced cultural difference in care. Most of the most experienced cultural difference in the nursing care result from communication features (57.5%). The cultural differences have both negative (45.1%) and positive (38.7%) effect on the care. The reason why students perceive cultural difference as positive is that they think they can get chances to know the differences and the reason for the justification of the negative influence is that differences prevent good communication. Conclusion: As a result, it was determined that most of the students (69.4%) experienced cultural differences in nursing care and these cultural differences had negative effect on the nursing care. The nursing students and the students living in Canakkale were found to experience fewer cultural differences in care compared to other groups.
