The ways of using the history of mathematics in 6th, 7th and 8th grade mathematics textbooks

Öz:

Uzun yıllardan beri, matematik eğitiminde matematik tarihinin (MT) kullanımı desteklenmektedir. Ülkemiz açısından bakıldığında ise 2005 yılında uygulanmaya başlayan ilköğretim matematik öğretim programı içerisinde matematik tarihinin kullanılmaya başlandığı görülmektedir. Matematik Tarihinin kullanım yollarının ve kullanım amacının etkililiği üzerine literatürde değişik görüşlere rastlanmaktadır. Bu durum ders kitaplarında matematik tarihine hangi yollarla ve ne amaçla yer verildiği sorusunu akla getirmektedir. Bu çalışmada ilköğretim 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf matematik ders kitaplarında matematik tarihine hangi yollarla ve niçin yer verildiği ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmış, matematik tarihinin alternatif kullanım yolları hakkında önerilerde bulunulmuştur. Bu çalışmada asıl amaç incelenen durumu etraflıca tanımlamak ve açıklamak olduğundan yöntem olarak betimsel yaklaşım kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada doküman incelemesi yoluyla veriler toplanmıştır. Doküman incelemesinde 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf ilköğretim matematik ders kitapları kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analiz sonucu, öğrenci ders kitaplarına, sadece tarihsel ufak parçalar eklenerek matematik tarihine yer verildiği tespit edilmiştir. Matematik Tarihinin öğretim ortamında kullanımına dayalı farklı yollar olduğu dikkate alınarak, çalışmanın son bölümünde matematik tarihinin araç ve amaç olarak kullanımına dayalı olarak hazırlanan etkinliklere yer verilmiştir.
