Assessment of hand functions in patients with chronic hepatitis B

Öz:

Amaç: Motor disfonksiyon karaciğer sirozu (KS) olan hastalarda önemli bir klinik bulgudur, ancak kronik hepatit B (KHB) olan hastalarda ince motor koordinasyonu değerlendiren çalışma yoktur. Biz KHB olan hastalarda el fonksiyonlarını ve parmak ucu becerisini araştırmayı amaçladık. Materyal ve Metot: Sirozun histopatolojik bulguları olmaksızın KHB tanısı olan toplam 17 kadın ve 15 erkek hasta çalışmaya alındı; 21 kadın ve 9 erkek sağlıklı gönüllü kontrol grubu olarak dahil edildi. El kavrama kuvveti Jamar el dinamometresi ile değerlendirildi. Üç türlü parmak sıkıştırma kuvveti Jamar pinçmetre ile değerlendirildi. Fonksiyonel durum Stanford Sağlık Değerlendirme Anketi (HAQ) ile değerlendirildi. Duruoz El İndeksi (DHI) el fonksiyonlarını değerlendirmek için kullanıldı. Parmak ucu becerisi Purdue pegboard testi ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Bilateral el kavrama kuvveti ve sıkıştırma kuvveti istatistiksel olarak kontrollerden farklı değildi (p>0.05). Gruplar arasında Purdue pegboard testi kategorileri arasında da anlamlı bir fark yoktu. Hastaların HAQ skorları kontrollerinkine göre daha yüksekti (p<0.05). Sonuç: El fonksiyonları KHB hastalarında etkilenmez. KHB hastalarında fonksiyonel durumdaki aksamalar genellikle kronik karaciğer hastalıklarında görülen yorgunluk ve depresyona bağlı olabilir.

Kronik hepatit B hastalarında el fonksiyonlarının değerlendirilmesi

Öz:

Objective: Motor dysfunction is an important clinical fnding in patients with liver cirrhosis (LC), but there is no study assessingfne motor coordination in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). We aimed to investigate hand functions and fngertip dexterityin patients with CHB.Materials and Methods: A total of 17 female and 15 male patients diagnosed with CHB without histopathological fndingsof cirrhosis were enrolled to the study; 21 female and 9 male healthy volunteers were included as a control group. Hand gripstrength was assessed by Jamar hand dynamometer. Three kinds of pinch strength of fngers were assessed by Jamar pinchmeter.Functional status was evaluated by using the Stanford Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ). Duruoz Hand Index (DHI) wasused to assess the hand functions. Fingertip dexterity was evaluated by Purdue pegboard test.Results: Bilateral hand grip strength and pinch strength were not statistically different from controls (p>0.05). There was alsono signifcant difference between the categories of the Purdue pegboard test between the groups. HAQ scores of patients werehigher than controls (p<0.05).Conclusion: Hand functions are not infuenced in patients with CHB. Disruptions in the functional status of patients with CHBmay be due to fatigue and depression, which are usually seen in chronic liver diseases.
