Aristoteles’in duyulanma temelli hafıza kuramı felsefi bir araştırma mıdır?

Öz:

Aristoteles’in “Hafıza ve Çağrışamla-Hatırlama” adlı denemesi modern düşünürler üzerinde yaygın bir etkiye sahiptir. Bu yazıda öncelikle günümüzde hafızaya ilişkin yürütülen tartışmalara kısaca yer verilecektir. İkinci olarak Aristoteles’in özellikle Ruh Üzerine adlı eserinde dile getirdiği duyulanma, imgeleme, düşünme üzerine görüşlerine değinilerek onun hafızaya ilişkin görüşlerinin kendi felsefesinde nereye oturtulabileceği tartışılmaya çalışılacaktır. Üçüncü olarak da Aristoteles’in hafızaya ilişkin görüşleri ele alınıp hem günümüz kuramları açısından yeri belirlenmeye çalışılacak hem de metinde değineceğimiz yorumcuların Aristoteles’in hafızaya ilişkin yazdıkları üzerine yargılarının geçerliliği sınanacaktır.

Is Aristotle’s sensation based Memory theory a philosophical inquiry?

Öz:

Aristotle’s treatise “On Memory and Recollection” which is a part of the collec- tion known as “Parva Naturalia” still has an influence on the modern readers and philosophers. On the purpose of understanding why it still grabs attention, first of all in this article, I shortly inquired the modern views about memory. Secondly, I endeavored to evaluate how, according to him, sensation-imagination and thinking occur (in his book De Anima). Thirdly, I aimed to reveal that memory is one of the important faculties in human which is based on images and that it has a place between imagination and thinking. So by the help of these two steps, finally, it has been stated what memory is and how we remember. As a result, the place of Aristotle’s theory about these matters in the recent, contemporary arguments will be shown and also the thoughts of Aristotle’s commentators will be criticized.
