A rare variation of the brachial plexus
Öz: Purpose: The aim of present report is to emphasize the occurrence of a rare nerve anomaly and its clinical importance for the surgical procedures. Methods: A rare anomaly of brachial plexus was encountered during routine dissection studies in the left arm of a 55-year-old female cadaver. The structures in the anterior and lateral neck, axillary, and brachial regions were dissected carefully and abnormal structures were photographed and figured. Results: There were two communicating branches between anterior division of the middle trunk and medial root of the median nerve. Musculocutaneous nerve did not pierced the coracobrachialis muscle. Joining of the two roots of the median nerve was behind the brachial artery Conclusion: The communication between middle trunk and medial root of the median nerve by two branches has not been reported in the available literature.
