The Relationship between Elementary Students' Problem Solving and Inquiry Learning Skills

Öz:
21. yüzyıl bireylerinin girişimcilik, yaratıcılık ve problem çözm e gibi ü st düzey düşünm e becerilerine sahip olm aları beklenm ektedir. B u becerilerden problem çözm e ve sorgulayıcı öğrenm e becerileri öğretim program ındaki ve günlük hayattaki rolleri nedeniyle ön plana çıkmaktadır. B u becerilerin durum unu ve beceriler arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlem enin önemli bir bulgu ortaya koyabileceği düşünülmektedir. B u nedenle gerçekleştirilen bu araştırmada öğrencilerin problem çözme ve sorgulayıcı öğrenm e becerileri algıları arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenm esi amaçlanmıştır. B u amaçla araştırm ada veri toplam a aracı olarak "problem çözm e becerileri algı ölçeği" ve "sorgulayıcı öğrenm e becerileri algı ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. A raştırm aya ilköğretim ikinci kadem ede öğrenim görm ekte olan 553 öğrenci katılmıştır. A raştırm adan elde edilen verilerin analizinde Pearson korelasyon katsayısı hesaplanarak değişkenler arasındaki ilişki belirlenmiştir. V erilerin analizi sonucunda öğrencilerin sorgulayıcı öğrenm e becerileri ve problem çözme becerileri algıları arasında anlam lı düzeyde ve p o zitif yönde bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. B u sonuca göre her iki değişkenin birbirlerini olum lu yönde etkilediği ve problem çözm e becerileri algıları gelişm iş bireylerin aynı zamanda sorgulayabilen bireyler oldukları söylenebilir. B u nedenle yapılacak olan yeni araştırm alarda öğrencileri sorgulamaya yönelten yöntem lerin ve tekniklerin kullanılm asının öğrencilerin problem çözme becerileri algılarının geliştirilm esine de katkı sağlayacağı göz önünde bulundurulm alıdır.

Fen İlköğretim Öğrencilerinin Problem Çözme ve Sorgulayıcı Öğrenme Becerileri Arasındaki İlişki

Öz:
The individuals o f the 21st century are expected to possess life and high end thinking skills such as entrepreneurship, creativity and problem solving skills. Problem solving skills and inquiry skills from this category are m uch im portant in term s o f their place in education program and daily life. D eterm ining the situation about these skills and relationship betw een these skills m ay be im portant by the content. Therefore, aim o f this study is to determ ine relationship betw een students' problem solving and inquiry learning skill perceptions. W ithin this aim, "problem solving skill perceptions scale" and "inquiry learning skill perceptions scale" used as data collection tools. 553 students studying in low er secondary education participated in this study. Pearson correlation coefficient used in analysis o f collected data and relationship betw een variables w ere determined. A s a result o f data analysis, a significant and positive relationship found betw een students' inquiry learning skills and problem solving skills. According to this result it was determ ined that these two variables affect each other in a positive way and it can be said that individuals w ith im proved problem solving skills also have im proved inquiry learning skills. Thus, in next studies it should be taken into account that using techniques and m ethods w hich encourages students to inquire w ould also contribute to their problem solving skill perceptions.
