Bipolar bozuklukta ketiapin kullanımı
Öz: Bipolar bozukluğun tedavisindeki ilerlemelere rağmen, varolan tedaviler her zaman etkin değildir ya da tedaviye uyumsuzluğa yol açan yan etkilerle birliktedir. Lityum, valproat ve karbamazepin gibi duygudurum düzenleyicilerin yanı sıra nöroleptikler de bipolar bozukluğun akut ve idame tedavisinde yaygın olarak kullanılmışlardır. Ne var ki, klasik antipsikotiklerle ortaya çıkan yan etkiler bipolar bozukluk tedavisini daha da karmaşık bir hale getirmiştir. Klasik antipsikotik ajanların kullanımına ilişkin bu sorunlar güz önüne alındığında, atipik antipsikotik ajanlar düşük yan etki riski taşımalarından ötürü tipik antipsikotik ajanların çekici bir alternatifi haline gelebilirler. Bu makalede, bipolar bozukluk tedavisi ve özellikle atipik antipsikotik ajan ketiapinin tedavideki yeri literatür ışığında gözden geçirilmiştir.

Quetiapine in bipolar disorders
Öz: Despite the advances in treatment of bipolar disorder, available treatment options are not always effective or associated with side effects leading to incompliance with the treatment. As well as mood stabilizers such as lithium, valproate and carbamazepine, neuroleptics are widely used in acute and maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder. Side effects due to antipsychotics further complicate the treatment of the disorder. Considering these problems with the use of classical antipsychotic agents in that they carry a lower risk of side effects. In this article, based on the information available in the literature, treatment of bipolar disorder and particularly the role of atypical agent quetiapine in treatment of this disorder were reviewed.
