The Importance of Seminal Plasma Proteins in Bulls in Terms of Cryopreservation and Fertility

Öz:
Seminal plasma is the fluid part of the ejaculate and it consists of liquids secreted by various male accessory glands that vary according to animal species. In mammals, it is composed of secretions originating from the rete testis, epididymis, seminal vesicle, ampulla, prostate and bulbourethral glands. Spermatozoa interacts with various proteins in the seminal fluid. Some of these proteins have beneficial effects on stabilization of plasma membrane, motility, capacity, acrosome reaction, viability, fertilization, spermatozoon penetration to oocyte and phagocytosis, while some proteins have deleterious effects on semen preservation, especially during cryopreservation process. In this review, it was aimed to reveal the importance of bull seminal plasma proteins in terms of fertility and cryopreservation
