Yöntem: Son on yıl yayınları taranmıştır.

Review of Youth Problems in the World

Öz:
Objective: To provide clinicians with current information on youth problems. Method: Review of past 10 years. Results: Rates of suicide, violence, substance abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, depressive symptoms are increasing in most countries; suicide rates were decreased in some European countries. Anorexia nervosa has been problem among Chinese and Japanese youth as thin body-ideal has been tradition. Aggression-bullying behaviors were major concerns in USA, Canada, Australia. In USA, availability of firearms has emerged as important issue and children-adolescents have the highest levels of depressive symptoms compared with 28 other developed nations. More likely explanations for these current problems are family disruption, low parental supervision, replacement of traditional child rearing practices and impact of media which encourages violent, aggressive, high risk behaviours. Conclusion: Our youth seems to have less problems of this kind. We should preserve our strong familial ties and must feel responsible for protecting them from the negative influence of media.
