İki Yüzlü Roma Tanrısı: Ianus (Janus)
Öz: Antik Roma din ve mitolojisinde Ianus (Janus) başlangıcın, geçişin, zamanın, kapının ve kapının tan-rısıdır. O geçmişe ve geleceğe bakar biçimde iki yüzlü betimlenir. Ianus’a hasat başlangıcında, ekim dikim aylarında, evlilik, savaş zamanında, taç giyme zamanlarında, ölüm, doğumda, benzeri biçimde birçok olay öncesinde tapınılır. Üzerinde iki yüzlü betimlerinin yer aldığı Roma sikkeleri basılmıştır. Ianus’un çift yüzlü başı, sakallı ya da sakalsız olarak betimlenmiştir. Ianus’un sembolleri anahtar ve asadır. Birçok Roma tanrısının aksine Ianus’un kökeni tartışmalıdır. Bazılarına göre antik Sabin kolonisinden Roma’ya gelmiştir. Ancak Roma’nın en erken tanrılarından biri olduğu bilinmektedir. Ianus tapınımı Roma ve şehirlerinde çok erken döneme gider. Roma’daki tapınağının kapıları savaş zamanında açılır, barış zamanında kapatılırdı.

THE TWO-FACED ROMAN GOD: IANUS (JANUS)
Öz: Ancient Roman religion and mythology, Ianus (Janus) is the god of beginnings, transitions, time, doorways, and changes. He is depicted as having two faced, since he looks to the future and to the past. Ianus was worshipped at the beginnings of the harcest, and planting times, marriages, wars, coronation, deaths and births pretty much before every activity of Roman life. His two faces were stamped on Roman coins. Ianus was represented by a double-faced head, and he was represented in the portrait of art either with or without a beard. Ianus’ symbols are the key and scepter. Unlike many Roman divinities, the origin of Ianus is disputed. According to some he was came to Rome from the ancient Italic Sabine tribes. But, it is known that Ianus was one of the earliest of the Roman deities. The worship of Ianus dated back to the earliest years of the city of Rome. In the temple of Ianus, in Rome the doors were thrown open in times of war and closed in times of peace.
