TURKISH ADAPTATION OF PERCEIVED ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP QUALITY SCALE (PRRQS): VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

Öz:
The purpose of this research was to adapt 6-items short form of the Perceived Relationship Quality Components Inventory into Turkish as Perceived Romantic Relationship Quality Scale (PRRQS), and to conduct validity and reliability studies. In the research, a total of 366 participants (n = 279 female, 76.2%; n = 87 male, 23.8%) who continue their education in Adnan Menderes University and are being in a romantic relationship were recruited through convenience sampling method. The ages of participants ranged from 18 to 25 (M = 20.22, SD = 1.56). Median romantic relationship duration was one year and above. Confirmatory factor analysis results indicated that 6-items and one-factor original structure of PRRQS showed good fit to the data in target sample. Significant, moderate to high correlations between PRRQS and criterion-related measurument instruments showed that PRRQS has satisfactory criterion-related validity. In the reliability study, Cronbach’s alpha, composite, and test-retest reliability coefficients were calculated to be .86, .87, and .81, respectively. All these research findings indicated that PRRQS can be used as a short, valid, and reliable instrument to assess overall perceived romantic relationship quality by researchers and practitioners.
