AN EVALUATION ON THE HYDROGEOMORPHOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE EŞEN STREAM BASIN

Öz:

The purpose of the study “An Evaluation On The Hydrogeomorphological Properties Of The EşenStream Basin”, is to reveal the problems which have formed problems or having the risk ofproblem formation depending on the geomorphological and hydrological properties the basinhas. The Eşen Stream Basin, is situated within the Muğla-Antalya provincial borders ofMediterranean Region, Antalya Section. The basin is divided into two large geomorphologicalunits with young tectonic movements starting from Miocene-Pliocene and continuing along theQuaternary. One of which is the Seki Basin that is covered with vast mountainous and platelikelands broken a little with tectonic effects in the north-east; the other is the Lower Eşen StreamBasin, which is torn by N-S and NW-SE direction faultline in the south. The erosion-accumulationactivities, geological structure, tectonism, high slope values of the Eşen Stream and the auxiliarybranches, which have not yet reached a balance profile in winning today's relief, have beeninfluenced by the values of the Eşen Stream Basin. Soil erosion, landslides, earthquakes, movingsand dunes, floods and slants in the Eşen Stream Basin constitute a problem for human activities.However, with the measures to be taken, the damages of these problems can be reduced to oreven entirely useful. Thus making future plans for evaluating the potential of existing natural andhuman resources in Eşen Stream Basin has now become a necessity.

EŞEN ÇAYI HAVZASI’NIN HİDROJEOMORFOLOJİK ÖZELLİKLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR DEĞERLENDİRME

Öz:

“Eşen Çayı Havzası’nın Hidrojeomorfolojik Özellikleri Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme” adlı çalışmanın amacı havzanın sahip olduğu hidrolojik ve jeomorfolojik özelliklere bağlı oluşan veya oluşma riski taşıyan problemleri ortaya koymaktır. Eşen Çayı Havzası, Akd eniz Bölgesi’nin Antalya Bölümünde Muğla - Antalya il sınırları içerisinde yer almaktadır. Havza Miosen - Pliosen’de başlayıp Kuaterner boyunca devam eden genç tektonik hareketlerle iki büyük jeomorfolojik üniteye ayrılmıştır. Biri kuzeydoğuda tektonik etkiler le az parçalanmış dağlık ve platoluk sahaların geniş yer kapladığı Seki Havzası; diğeri güneyde N - S ve NW - SE yönlü faylarla parçalanmış Aşağı Eşen Çayı Havzasıdır. Eşen Çayı Havzası’nın bu günkü rölyefi kazanmasında henüz denge profiline ulaşmamış Eşen Çay ı ve tali kollarının aşındırma - biriktirme faaliyetleri, jeolojik yapı, tektonizma, yüksek eğim değerleri etkili olmuştur. Eşen Çayı Havzası’nda toprak erozyonu, heyelanlar, depremler, hareketli kumullar, taşkın ve çekikler beşer faaliyetleri için problem t eşkil etmektedir. Ancak alınacak önlemlerle bu problemlerin zararları azaltılabileceği gibi bütünüyle faydalı hale dönüştürülebilir. Böylece Eşen Çayı Havzası’nda mevcut doğal potansiyel ve insan gücünün değerlendirilerek geleceğe yönelik planlamaların yap ılması artık bir zorunluluk haline gelmiştir.
