ACUTE EFFECTS OF DYNAMIC LUNGE MOVEMENT WITH NON-DOMINANT LEG VIBRATION ON SPRINT, BALANCE AND JUMPING

Öz:
The purpose of this study was to investigate of the acute effects of dynamic lunge movement with non-dominant leg (NDL) vibration on sprint, balance and jumping. Volunteered physically active (1-2 hours in a week), right dominant legged, 38 male students from Faculty of Sport Sciences were participated to the study. They were divided into randomizely experimental group [(EG) (n=18)] and control group [(CG) (n=20)]. Each group participated to pre- and post-tests of sprint, static balance, squat jump (SJ) and countermovement jump (CMJ) in 7 days after the familiarization. Both groups stayed in the dynamic lunge position but EG was in 4 mm, 50 Hz, 60 sec acute vibration with NDL. Three minutes after, they participated to 2 times 30 m sprint test with 3min rest. Ninety seconds after they participated to two times 30 sec static balance test with 30 sec rest. Same procedure used for SJ and CMJ tests with the static balance test. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used for pre- and post-test comparisons within the groups. Mann Whitney U test was used for pre- and post training comparisons between the groups. Probability level was p≤0.05. There were significant pre-test differences for sprint time (t) and velocity (V) and post-test difference for power including both legs (Z= -2.08 and -1.31, and 2.22; p<0.05, respectively). There were significant differences between pre- and post-test parameters of t, V, front-back balance rate (BRFB), SJ, and CMJ for EG (Z= -2.02, -1.96, -2.43, -2.04, and 2.54; p<0.05, respectively), stride length (SL), dominant leg SL (SLDL), and CMJ for CG (Z= -2.04, -2.39, and -2.41; p<0.05, respectively) . Because there were acute effects of 60 sec vibration with NDL at the dynamic lunge movement on t, V, BRFB, SJ and CMJ, it is concluded that it may develop for speed, balance, explosive and elastic power, use for training related to SFDL and SLNDL. Also, detailed studies about different sprint distances with vibrations on NDL leg at dynamic lunge movement may be effective for strength, speed and agility development in training sciences.
