Sosyal Karşılaştırmaların Ulusal Nostalji Üzerindeki Etkisi
Öz: Kolektif nostalji kavramına olan ilgi her geçen gün artmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, gruplar arası karşılaştırmaların olası etkilerine odaklanarak, Sosyal Kimlik Kuramı ve kolektif nostalji arasında bir bağlantı kurmaktır. Sosyal karşılaştırmaların ulusal nostalji düzeyini etkileyeceği ve kimliklenme düzeyinin bu etki üzerinde aracı bir rol oynayacağı hipotezi ileri sürülmüştür. İki deneysel çalışma yapılmıştır. Birinci çalışmada, kimliklenme düzeyi düşük olan katılımcılar ülkelerini daha zayıf askeri güce sahip olan diğer ülkelerle karşılaştırdıklarında, ulusal geçmişi daha çok yüceltmişlerdir. İkinci çalışmada, kimliklenme düzeyi yüksek olan katılımcılar ülkelerini daha iyi eğitim sistemine sahip olan diğer ülkelerle karşılaştırdıklarında, geçmiş altın çağ inançları artmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, kimliklenme düzeyinin sosyal karşılaştırmaların ulusal nostalji üzerindeki etkisinde aracı bir rol oynadığını göstermiştir.

The Effect of Social Comparisons on National Nostalgia
Öz: There is a growing interest in the concept of collective nostalgia. The main purpose of the current research was to build an alternative bridge between SIT and collective nostalgia by focusing on the possible effects of intergroup comparisons. It was hypothesized that social comparisons would influence the level of national nostalgia and that effect would be moderated by the level of identification. Two experimental studies were conducted. In Study 1, low identifiers, but not high, increased their glorification of the national past when they compared their country with others having weaker military forces. In Study 2, high identifiers, but not low, increased their belief in a past golden age of the nation when they compared their country with others having better education systems. The results indicated that level of identification moderated the effect of social comparisons on national nostalgia.
