The Impact of Health Promotion Programs on Presenteeism: A Review of the Literature

Öz:
ABSTRACT Presenteeism is defined as, the practice of coming to work despite illness, injury, anxiety, etc. often resulting in reduced productivity. Health promotion programs are all health, safety and wellness activities offered by a workplace. The aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of health promotion programs that have been carried out to prevent sickness presenteeism. This study was based on the scanning of the literature. Sixteen studies have been reached for the purpose of research in electronic databases. Findings show that the inefficiency associated with presenteeism can be reduced by health promotion programs, and that investments in these programs increase the productivity of employees and provide financial return to the institution.
