POLİTİK HAYVAN’IN BİLİŞSEL DÖNÜŞÜMÜ: POLİTİK ZEKÂYA YÖNELİK BİR DEĞERLENDİRME

THE COGNITIVE TRANSFORMATION OF POLITICAL ANIMAL: AN EVALUATION OF POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE

Öz:
Political intelligence is broadly accepted as an outstanding but under-investigated construct that is devoid of a clear conceptual definition and viable measurement. The current research was conducted to conceptualize and to measure the "political intelligence" (PI) construct while ensuring validation of the construct. In order to touch all the bases, we carried out two studies encompassing three samples (N = 943), which demonstrate the psychometric properties and nomological network of the Political Intelligence Scale, in Turkey. As hypothesized, political intelligence is a multidimensional construct that consists of the dimensions of strategic thinking, empathy for purpose, trustworthiness, need for power and versatility. It presents that the scale has both convergent and discriminant validity and that political intelligence has a positive significant relationship with political skill. In line with our argument, it was found that the construct explained by political intelligence is different from the construct of political skill. Thanks to the theoretical implications of this scale, new debates regarding organizational politics, leadership, and social change will take part a place in the related literature.
