In this research; it is aimed to examine the materials that social studies teacher candidates have prepared within the scope of “Instructional Technologies and Material Design” course, in terms of gender, educational status, social sciences, class level, learning area, and subject variables. The sample of the study group is composed by 180 3rd grade students of social studies teacher education who have taken “Instructional Technologies and Material Design” course in a public university education faculty given by researcher himself in 2012 – 2013 academic year. During the Fall Term, social studies teacher candidates designed five materials. In this study, case study method was used from qualitative research models. The data of the study were obtained by examining the photographs of the materials prepared by the social studies teacher candidates. These data were collected by using document analysis method. These data were obtained by examining the photographs and videos of the materials prepared by social studies teacher candidates. These data obtained from the research were analyzed according to gender, teaching situation, social sciences, class level, learning area, and subject variables and various results were made for social studies teacher candidates’ material designing in social studies teaching. According to these results; when the participation rates of social studies teacher candidates according to gender and educational status are examined, it is seen that there is a balanced distribution. It is concluded that male social studies teacher candidates make more material than female social studies teacher candidates. It has been determined that there is no significant difference between the number of materials prepared by social studies teacher candidates who are studying in first education and secondary education. It can be said that history and geography disciplines are preferred more than other social sciences. The number of materials prepared in the field of geography was determined to be higher than the number of materials prepared in the field of History. The number of materials prepared for grade 6 is significantly higher than the others.
