A Study on the Validity and Reliability of the Level of Employee Satisfaction at Livestock Farming Enterprises in Turkey

Öz:
This study aimed to characterize the current conditions experienced by workers employed in the Turkish livestock sector to identify potential problems that the Turkish livestock sector might face in the future and propose some potential solutions to overcome these potential problems. Data were collected from 75 farm workers participated voluntarily via interviews. The Delphi process was applied to develop questionnaires. Factor analysis was performed to assess validity and reliability. During fieldwork, a single form with 38 questions relating to their work on the farm was presented to farm personnel. A Farm Employee Satisfaction Scale (FES-S) was developed. The satisfaction level of Turkish farm personnel was moderate to low. FES-S provides a useful means for farm owners to identify aspects of farm management and organization that require improvement. In addition, FES-S can help farm management in the periodic assessment of whether improvements in employee satisfaction and thereby employee retention accompany any implemented changes.
