With the 1961 Constitution, the Senate of the Republic, which would continue until the 1980 military coup d'état in Turkish political life, was established. This structure has formed the second assembly in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), which is similar to the Senate of the Ottoman Empire (Ayan Meclisi). It is a legislative council consisting of members of the National Unity Committee of the Republican Senate. These quota members were elected by the president and senators wereelected by general vote. A total of 498 senators were elected from 1961 to 1980, 4 of them did not start their duties. The mission of the Republic Senate has been defined as being a political balance factor by supervising the work of the ruling government and contributing to the solution of social problems. Between 1961 and 1980, there are two senators representing Nevsehir in the Senate of the Republic. These are the third president of the senate İbrahim Şevki Atasağun and (Salih) Ragıp Üner. The senators of Nevsehir entered the senate both from the president's quota and through the general election. When we look at the records of the Turkish Grand National Assembly in this period between the two military interventions, it is understood that the senators of Nevsehir played important roles in the development and growth of Nevsehir. In the Senate, they expressed their struggle in solving Nevsehir's problems with their proposals, suggestions and speeches, both at the presidential level and individually. In this context, this study were examined how Nevsehir was represented in the senate in the period 1961-1980, and were revealed the level of contribution of the representatives to Nevsehir in the light of the sources of the period.
