Adaptation Study of the Innovative Behavior Inventory (IBI) to Turkey

Öz:
The aim of this study is to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Innovative Behaviour Inventory (IBI) developed by Lukes and Stephan (2017). The sample of the study consists of academicians. The findings indicated that the scale had the same factors as the original. These are seven factors: “idea generation, idea search, idea communication, implementation starting activities, involving others, overcoming obstacles and innovation outputs”. The internal consistency and reliability values of the scale were found appropriate both for the overall scale and for all factors. When these results are evaluated together, it is seen that the whole scale is reliable. In general, considering the analyzes made, it is possible to say the scale which is adapted to measure innovative work behavior in Turkey is a valid and reliable instrument. Thus, the scale is thought to be useful for measuring innovative work behavior as an area open to development; it is recommended to be used as dependent and independent variable in different studies in the future. At the same time, the scale is anticipated that the scale will support projects that work in practice for organizations and training and development programs to be developed.
