Colon Perforation Due to Amoebic Dysentery-Case Report The infection source of amehiasis is the people who carry Entamoeba Histolytica in their gastrointestinal tract. It in¬fects in fecal-oral direction through water, fruits and veg¬etables contaminated withfeces in which ameboid tropho-zoites are found. The infection is manifested either with a mild, subacute form or with severe complications such as acute abdomen. Mucosal ulcers are seen in the wall of the large intestine where the intestinal passage is very slow. Deepened ulcers can cause different complications like hemorrage, ameboma, stenosis, pseudopolips, perfora¬tions, liver abcess. Entamoeba can also be found in ap¬pendix vermiformis, terminal ileum, gallbladder and liver. We present a case consulting with an acute abdomen, who were under medical treatment for amibe dyzeritery pre¬senting with severe bloody mucus diarrhea. The patient underwent urgent laparotomy. A large site of perforation as determined at left flexure of the colon.
