Diabetes Symptoms and Self-Management Perceptions of Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes

Öz:
Objective: This study was planned as a descriptive-relational type to determine the relationship symptoms of diabetes in patients with type 2 diabetes.Material and Methods: The study sample included 242 individuals with diabetes, who were randomly selected from those who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes between the ages of 18 and 65 years and were admitted to Bursa Çekirge State Hospital, diabetes education outpatient clinic. In the collection of data introductory information form, self-management perception scale in diabetes and diabetes symptoms checklist scale were used. In the analysis of data summarized as number, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the Student t test, one-way analysis of variance, Tukey’s test, and the bilateral relations between the variables. Results: The mean age of the patients was 53.73±9.2 years; 59.5% were women, 77.3% were married, and 45.5% were primary school graduates. The mean score of the participants in the self-management perception scale in diabetes was 23.26±5.49, and 86.0±31.0 was obtained from the diabetes symptoms checklist scale. Only insulin, physical activity, and regular dieters were found to be significantly higher. According to the recommendation, the mean score of diabetes self-management perception was found to be significantly higher. The relationship between the self-perception of diabetes and the total score and sub-dimensions of the Diabetes Symptoms Checklist is significant, the relationship is negative and the strength of the relationship is weak in the sub-dimension and total scoreConclusion: It was found that patients with type 2 diabetes have a relationship between diabetes symptoms and self-management perception. It was concluded that while the self-management perception scale score increased in diabetes, the total score and subdimensions of the diabetes symptoms checklist decreased.

Tip 2 Diyabetli Bireylerin Diyabet Belirtileri ve Öz-Yönetim Algıları

Öz:
Amaç: Bu araştırma, Tip 2 diyabetli bireylerde öz-yönetim algı düzeyleri ile diyabet belirtilerinin arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı – ilişkisel türde yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemini, Bursa Çekirge Devlet Hastanesi diyabet eğitim polikliniğine başvuran 18-65 yaş arası, Tip 2 diyabet tanısı almış bireylerden gelişi güzel örneklem metodu ile seçilen 242 Tip 2 diyabetli birey oluşturmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında; Tanıtıcı Bilgi formu, Diyabette Öz-Yönetim Algısı Skalası ve Diyabet Belirtileri Kontrol Listesi Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler sayı, yüzde, ortalama ve standart sapma olarak özetlenmiş verilerin analizinde ise student t test, tek yönlü ANOVA, Tukey ve değişkenler arasındaki ikili ilişkilerin incelenmesinde Pearson korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Bireylerin yaş ortalaması 53,73±9,2 olup %59,5’i kadın, %77,3’ü evli, %45,5’i ilkokul mezunudur.
