The Effect of Acceptance and Commitment TherapyBased Psychoeducation Program on University Students’ Meaning of Life Levels

Öz:
This study aims to examine the effect of acceptance and commitmenttherapy-based psychoeducation program on university students’ meaning of lifelevels. Solomon Four Groups Model was used in the study. Within the context of thismodel, two experimental groups and two control groups, each including 9 members,were formed. Experimental groups received acceptance and commitment therapybased psychoeducation program for 8 sessions while control groups received nospecific treatment. In accordance with Solomon Four Groups Experimental Model,one experimental and one control group took a pretest. However, the remaininggroups did not attend such a test. All groups took a post test. Observation wasapplied on all of the groups two months after the end of the sessions. Statisticalanalyses revealed that search of meaning levels of the experimental groupsdecreased significantly while their presence of meaning levels increasedsignificantly. It was concluded that the psychoeducation program developed basedon the therapy resulted in an increase in presence of meaning, and a decrease in thelevel of search of meaning. In brief, the findings were discussed in the light of therelevant literature and suggestions based on the results of the research werepresented.
