Human, one of the creatures in the world biosphere, consumes natural resources above their renewable levels. This situation causes destruction on the environment and brings about problems such as climate change, drought, decrease in biological diversity due to the interaction of human life with the environment. At this point, the most emphasized approach is “sustainable development”, and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit held in 2015. When the goals are examined, there is a need for understanding that evaluates people together with the environment they live in, creates multidisciplinary partnerships with financial, agricultural, energy and business sectors. The concept of planet health, which has been put forward as a necessity as a result of environmental and protective health trends, emphasizes the necessity of international collaborations. International nursing organizations see nursing professionals as key stakeholders in promoting planetary health. The adoption of the planetary nursing approach contributes to the concretization of the principles of improvement, leadership and global action that Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, describes as the foundations of the profession. Based on these knowledge, the purpose of this review is to emphasize the importance of planetary health and planetary nursing within the scope of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and to raise awareness.
