Epilepsi ile yaşam: epilepsinin psikososyal etkileri
Öz: Epilepsi, emosyonel ve psikososyal olarak hasta ve yakınlarının yaşamını etkileyebilen tıbbi bir sorundur. Epilepsili bireylerde nöbetlere bağlı kazalar, fiziksel hastalıklarda artış, anksiyete, depresyon gibi psikolojik sorunlar, hastalarda benlik saygısında azalma, ümitsizlik, saldırganlık, cinsel sorunlar, eğitimsel başarıda azalma, işsizlik ve yaşam kalitelerinin azalmasına neden olabilmektedir. Epilepsili hastalar, yakınlarının hastalık üzerine daha çok odaklanmaları nedeni ile yoğun stres yaşayabilmektedirler. Bundan dolayı epilepsi hastalığının yönetiminde hastanın yaşamının psikososyal, emosyonel yönlerinin düşünülmesi gerekir.

Öz: Epilepsy is a medical problem effecting life of patient and families as emotional and psychosocial. Accidents relating seizures, increasing of physical diseases, psychological problems such as anxiety, depression in epilepsy patients may cause to decreasing of self-esteem, desperation, aggression, sexual problems, decreasing of educational success, unemployment and decreasing of life quality. Patients with epilepsy may experience intensive stress because their family focus on disease. Therefore, in management of epilepsy diseases should be considered life of patients in terms of psychosocial and emotional.
