Peripherie nerve involvement is known to be a constant finding in differenet types of lep¬rosy. The involvement of the 5th and 7th cranial nerves lead some authors to investigate the affects of the disease on 8th nerve in the past, however, still little is known for the status of the cochleovestibular function and the authors of the few studies on the subject are not in agreement To investigate the 8th nerve involvement, 30 patients with leprosy disease undergone a complete audiovestibular test battery and the results are compared to the results of 15 normal subjects. 23% of the patients head sensorineu-ral hearing loss. The results of Metz Recruitment, SIS, Loudnes tolerance show that cochlear involvement does not exist. We conclude that, vestibular test results and the pathologic ENG findings offourpatinets when evaluated together with the audiologic findings, there may be a retrocochlear involvement in Lep¬rosy patients.
