Her iki kaide akrüinden.yapılmış akril bloklar her biri 20 adet blok içeren 6 alt gruba ayrıldı.

The effect of acetone application on repair strengths of autopolymerizing and microwave acrylic resins

Öz:
Aim: To investigate the effect of acetone application on the transverse repair strength of a microwave polimerized (Acron MC) and a heat polimerized (Meliodent) aciylic resins that were repaired with an autopolymerizing and a microwave aciylic resins. Material and Methods: In this study, 120 acrylic blocks (31.5x 12x3.6 mm) of Meliodent and Acron MC were manufactured. Control groups including 10 specimens (65x12x3.6 mm) were prepared with the same methods. For each denture base resin groups, 120 acrylic blocks were divided into six subgroups, including 20 blocks. In order to apply the repair materials, the aciylic blocks were matched. Then, 30 sec. monomer, 30 sec. acetone and 15 sec. acetone+blast ofair+15 sec. monomer were applied to the repair surfaces of the blocks as surface treatment procedure. The matched blocks were repaired with the materials, Meliodent autopolymerising and Acron MC. The transverse strength (Mpa) of the repaired and control specimens was measured using a 3-point bending test. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, Posthoc Tukey and Student t tests. Results: Statistically differences were found between Meliodent's subgroups (p<0.00J, F=373.8) and also between Acron MC's subgroups (p<0.00l, F=2379.7). There were significant differences between repair materials and surface treatments (p<0.001). Acron MC which was used as both denture base and repair materials, was shown higher strength. Conclusion: Application of acetone to both microwave and heat polymerized denture base resins surfaces before repair procedure, increased the transverse repair strength. Meliodent which was repaired with microwave polymerized resin and acetone showed the highest transverse repair strength.
